Quantifying UX: Improving Your Professional Credibility and Authority with Numbers

Attendees will leave this session with a greater understanding of the importance and value of quantitative methods for gaining trust of clients and colleagues, especially executives, engineers and other business professionals with an affinity for numbers.

In the course, students will:

  1.  Describe common types of research questions used in the UX field and the types of quantitative methods that will answer them,
  2. Identify several ways of quantitatively casting variables, measuring perception and offering a simple analyses of their data,
  3. Critique one of their own user research studies and identify ways quantitative methods could improve the creditability and authority of their results,
  4. Explain why small-sample usability testing is not only a cost-effective but also a valid method, even for some forms of quantitative work,
  5. Identify sources for quantitative measurement tools for common psychological variables.
